Sat, 18 Sep 2010

	Nevada County Italian Festival

A little taste of Italy, right here in Nevada County!
Bring a blanket, take a seat on the lawn, visit with friends, listen to outstanding musical entertainment, enjoy the food, our great wine and all around good time!
Get ready! for the Wine Booth at the Italian Festival. All red wine tastes the same, right? Wrong! Be prepared to taste and savor red wines from the north to the south of Italy and beyond. Grapes lovingly nurtured and valued by the Roman legions include the famous Barbera originally brought to California from the Piedmont in northeast Italy and the sensuous Sangiovese from the romantic rolling hills of Tuscany ( and Grass Valley ).

Open House - Cellar Treasures ? Older Wines from the 80?s, Dr. Karl Werner's era (Winemaster 1978 ? 1988)

Sat, 25 Sep 2010

Open House - Cellar Treasures ? Older Wines from the 80?s, Dr. Karl Werner's era (Winemaster 1978 ? 1988)

	- As good fortune would have it, one of Germany's most renowned winemasters expressed interest in the Fellowship's philosophy. His name was Dr. Karl Werner, and his family boasted 17 generations of winemakers. Dr. Werner was the founding winemaster at the Callaway vineyards in Temecula, California when he was introduced to the Fellowship. He came to the North Yuba retreat and immediately was struck by its winemaking possibilities. The land reminded him of his native Germany. He tasted the soil and recognized its unique terroir: the rocky red soil and the mountain climates could produce wine of distinct character, he felt, for the vines would have to struggle in this soil to survive. The Fellowship in turn embraced his vision, as it so poetically expressed their philosophy of life.

Come and join us for some treasures from the cellar exemplifying the style of California Cabernet winemaking from the '80's. Boldly styled, single varietal Cabernet Sauvignons that are drinking beautifully right now.
