1999 Le Provencal
This Cabernet-Syrah bend shows a harmony and elegance with ripe fruit and tannins. This wine joins the "Reserve Level" class and can be seen as a symbol of our "new style" of wines. Keeping the concentration and depth of our tradition with additional refinement, balance and early appeal. Drink it with game, venison and with the more voluptuous taste of boar. Our winemaker recommends you drink it in very large glasses.

Yes, 1999 is the current release for this wine, and to tell you something about the slow-wine philosophy of this estate, it released, at the end of November, its cabernet sauvignons from 1997 many properties in California have released their 2003s. Le Provencal 1999 smells and tastes like spiced and macerated black cherries and currants leaning, after a few minutes, toward blueberry pie. It offers remarkable purity and minerality, amazing weight and density and gravity that seems to extend below the bottom of the glass. Yet for all this intensity, it is completely drinkable without being daunting or overwhelming. In a word: Delicious, and terrific with my braised veal shanks with turnips, shallots, carrots, celery, mushrooms, garlic and rosemary. Now through 2009 or 2010. Excellent.
